Choose your size
- Micro and small With 1–49 employees you have little spare time and no data team. You also have few old systems and short decision chains, so you can change a process in weeks.
- Medium With 50–249 employees you can afford one person who owns AI, but rarely a data-science team. Buy and set up tools, and set the rules for using them. Don't build.
- Mid-market With 250–999 employees you have real budgets and shorter decision chains than a large enterprise. That speed helps only if you use it.
- Enterprise With 1,000 or more employees, almost every firm uses AI somewhere. Very few get measurable profit from it. The gap between the two is widest at this size.
The two smaller bands follow the European Union’s definition of small and medium-sized companies. The guide explains what AI-first means at each size.
